Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired, San Francisco

San Francisco Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired is the largest agency providing direct service, advocacy and information to the blind and visually impaired community of Northern California. Since 1902, the Lighthouse has offered solutions to living with vision loss and provided employment for people who are blind and visually impaired. During its long history, the Lighthouse has provided consistent, quality products to military and federal customers and has helped thousands of people who are blind achieve economic independence through employment. As a Digital Data Scan® provider, San Francisco Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired now offers a valuable service to local businesses while creating additional high-tech employment opportunities for people who are blind.

Like all providers of Digital Data Scan®, the San Francisco Lighthouse is an independent non-profit organization that is associated with National Industries for the Blind (NIB) and the AbilityOne Program. As an AbilityOne Program participating agency, at least 75% of the San Francisco Lighthouse employees are legally blind. In fact, because of organizations like the Lighthouse, Americans who are blind are able to lead more productive and independent lives.
